How to go about it...

All our rescue rabbits stay with us for a minimum of 3 weeks before they are considered to be available for adoption.  This time allows us to assess their character and temperament.  We also are able to ensure that the rabbit is healthy and should there be medical needs we can get qualified veterinary help for the bunny.  Rabbits that have been dumped by their previous owners come to us with no history and we need also to get them into a settled feeding regime before they can be moved on to another owner.

When we consider the rabbits to be ready for adoption they are moved into pens where prospective owners can come,     by appointment, to view them.  It is most unusual for any rabbit to be taken to a new home that day, as we generally demand a 7 day 'cooling off period'.  The rabbits are reserved for a new owner but we insist that time is taken for everyone to consider whether they are making the correct choice and are prepared for the commitment.

We are requesting some form of identification  e.g. postal identification to ensure that rabbits are taken by genuine re-homers.  This is purely to safeguard a rabbit being placed in a new home.  The majority of the bunnies with us have had bad luck already in their lives and we feel we must do our best to ensure they go to genuine and loving homes, rather than possibly being exploited by a someone with inappropriate intentions.

Rabbits which are still in their quarantine period can be viewed and reserved, but the 3 week stay with us remains essential for our assessments.

We are very happy to help when a partner to a bonded rabbit dies.  We encourage people to bring along their remaining bunny to meet the rabbits staying with us, since it is often better that the rabbit makes the decision regarding a replacement friend. We appreciate the urgency in these situations and the need to get things right.

"Yes... we will get on fine!"

All rabbits go with a supply of food for the time it takes to settle into their new home.  A care sheet is also given out and we are always happy to answer questions and provide advice.
