Le Coeur Rescue

Since we started our rescue we have successfully re-homed between 140 and 160 rabbits per year.  We are registered with Basingstoke Council, recognised by The Rabbit Welfare Association and members of the British Rabbit Council.  We have our premises regularly inspected and welcome visitors by appointment.

We have an excellent rabbit - savvy vet and the medical care and good husbandry that we can offer the bunnies that come our way is something that we pride ourselves on.  All rabbits are quarantined on arrival and are kept within a secure and clean environment.

Unfortunately we do have limited space and so there are times when we are unable to take bunnies, but we endeavour to respond as quickly as possible to an emergency.

We have great success in re-homing many of the rabbits that come our way and look forward to hearing from potential owners who are seriously committed to taking a bunny as a permanent family member.

Talking through re-homing.

We generally do not allow people to take a rabbit after their first visit since we feel that a 'cooling off period' is essential to allow new owners to consider the commitment that they are about to make. Most of our rabbits are unwanted pets; some outgrown or bought on a whim; others have been dumped in car parks or motorway verges. Some are left outside our premises in flimsy boxes and others have injuries that indicate a period of neglect or cruelty.  It is essential that these sensitive and vulnerable rabbits are taken on by people who will treat them with the love and respect that they deserve.

Even if you cannot re-home a bunny you may still be interested in helping rabbits who, through no fault of their own, desperately need care and a chance in life.
