Our Educational and Hands On Work
Our Educational and Hands on Work has developed from our interest and enthusiasm for rabbits and our desire to share this with as many people as possible. Since 2002 we have taken our rabbits to Charity and Public events within Hampshire and neighbouring counties as well as to Mainstream and Special Schools, Young People's organisations and Elderly Care Centres.

| A new experience for everyone! | ||
Casual visitors have been amazed at the wide range of breeds, colours and fur types within the species. Pet owners have enjoyed talking about their own pets and discussing in greater depth the many husbandry or behavioural issues that have arisen. Prospective owners have been able to talk through what is involved in taking on a bunny. We appreciate the opportunity of offering guidance and information which is just not available from so many pet stores. Our years of experience with so many breeds have enabled us to speak knowledgeably about rabbit keeping and we have been able to offer reassurance or advice on many occasions.

Following the release of the latest Wallace and Gromit film The Curse of the Were -Rabbit many people took on Giant Rabbits without thinking through all the issues. As babies have grown into substantial adults the reality of what has been taken on as a spur of the moment purchase is now starting to become reality. Many rabbits are now not wanted and are finding themselves at Rescues. We will happily talk through the special needs and requirements of such bunnies and can advise whether this may or may not be the pet for you! |

Talking rabbit! |
|
The Hands on Days enable us to help many of the rabbits at our Rescue find the permanent and loving homes which they deserve. We can talk with people about the breeds of rabbit that would best fit their needs; we can advise about caging and feeding: we can share expertise about bunny behaviour and medical problems; we have become well known for the help and guidance that we offer. A care sheet is available at the Hands On days and given out at special events. An appointment is made for people seriously interested in having a rabbit to come to visit our available rescue bunnies and to discuss further the process of adoption.

With your help we raised £350 for Asthma UK |

The rabbits give us the opportunity of fundraising for good causes. We have collecting tins for the charity of the day and local Special Schools. None of the donations are ever taken for our work. We receive as our thanks the feedback from the visitors and the responses from, in particular, the children. Over the years we have raised many thousands of pounds for a huge range of deserving causes.

Everyone loves the bunnies! |

Working with children we consider to be the real privilege. We hope to be able to increase their awareness and interest in rabbits as well as, hopefully, developing a knowledge of and respect for animals. It is a privilege to see Special Needs children respond in ways that they have never previously. They amaze their parents and carers with their responses. The smiles and deep, unspoken contentment that we have witnessed from some profoundly disabled children is heart warming and touches us deeply. That is our reward.
