Rainbow Bridge

Return to Homepage

There is a bridge connecting Heaven and Earth. It is called the Rainbow Bridge because of its many colours. Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge there is a land of meadows, hills and valleys with lush green grass.

When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this place. There is always food and water and warm spring weather. The old and frail animals are young again. Those who are maimed are made whole again. They play all day with each other.

There is only one thing missing. They are not with their special person who loved them on Earth. So, each day they run and play until the day comes when one suddenly stops playing and looks up. The nose twitches. The ears are up. The eyes are staring. And this one suddenly runs from the group.

You have been seen, and when you and your special friend meet, you take him or her in your arms and embrace. Your face is kissed again and again and you look once more into the eyes of your trusting pet.

Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together, never again to be separated.

In memory of all loving pets and their  special friends...

Some of our bunnies who have crossed the bridge...

Basil

Poor old Basil has passed away - having been reserved and whilst waiting to go to his new home. Sadly he never made it..

He was such a gentle and soppy rabbit who loved being fussed.

Sleep well little one.

Xantia

Our big boy has passed away.  Loved by everyone, he was the most gentle we had ever had.  He was always wanting to be fussed and was giving bunny kisses.

He left a big empty space in our hearts.

Sleep well big boy.

Xantia's first day out

Snowball

Our old boy Snowball has passed away.  He was a very soppy bunny. We used for work experience students to learn how to cut claws because he was so relaxed while being turned over. The children loved cuddling him like a baby.

Sleep well, little one.

Whisky

Our little old boy has passed away having come to us as a rescue.  He became too old to re-home so we decided he should stay with us. He was a funny little thing as he would not eat his dinner until he had had a cuddle.  That over, he would go straight to his bowl and begin to eat!

Sleep well, little one.

Jack

Jack has passed away. Having come to us as a partner for Luna he had  a stroke back in the summer.  This left him weak on one side. It was followed by another stroke recently which took his life.

Luna has now been partnered with Dennis, one of our giant rabbits.

Woody

Our dear old Woody has passed away.

Woody came to us as a rescue and joined our Hands On Team.  He loved the children climbing into the run with him and feeding him carrots.

He was a very affectionate giant bunny who was loved by everyone.

Run free precious one

Matt

Our poor little Matt has passed away. He had been fighting back after a stroke  and was almost back to normal when he had another stroke which took his life.

A Hands On Bunny, he had been one of the children's favourites and loved all the fuss.

Sleep well little one.

Sky

Sky, our big baby-eyed boy has passed away. He was so gentle and cuddly all the children loved him. He was ideal for the work-experience students to learn how to clip claws.  He loved all the attention he got.

Old age got the better of him.

We miss him dearly -  sleep well, little one.

Morning Mist

She was a most loving bunny and a proud mother. Her life was cut short when we found her dead in her cage.

Sleep well...

Sampson

A very sad day (17.2.09) as our big  boy passed away overnight having been very frail for the past year.  He was loved by everyone.

He loved going out with us on the Hands On Days  - especially being fussed by all the children. He has left a big hole in our hearts.

Sleep well, little one

Danielle

Danielle was a loving, soppy French Lop who loved going around the shed visiting all the other bunnies.  She was often used for Work Experience for students to learn how to clip nails -  because of her soppy nature she was easy for them to turn onto her back.  She will be sadly missed by everyone.

Run free little one.

Mitsy

Sadly Mitsy, one of our oldies, passed away at the beginning of January.  She had reached the good old age of 13 years and was an exceptional rabbit who always greeted me with bunny kisses.

Run free, little one

Binnie

Sadly Binnie died on Christmas Day 2008.  We miss him very much because of his gentle nature and his lovely colour.

Sleep well, little one

Henry

Our dear old Henry has passed away. So loving and gentle, he wouldn't even eat his food until he had been fussed.  He would run around with a bit of straw in his mouth to get our attention.  He was loved by everyone. We miss him very much.

Run free, little one.

Harry Hare

Sadly our dear old Harry Hare has passed away.  He had  a very special place in our hearts as he was so gentle and loving.  We loved the way he snuggled up with his teddy bear over his shoulders when he was sleeping.

He will be missed by everyone who knew him: especially us!

Bramble

Bramble had been a popular member of the Hands On Team.

Sadly he left us on 1st January

Sleep well...

Biscuit

Biscuit was one of our oldest rabbits, who had been with us for many years. Sadly he left us on Christmas Day.

Sultan

Sultan had been one of our Hands On Team and then had retired, being too old to carry on with that work.

He had amazed us with the way that he kept going despite being infirm and frail.  At his next birthday he would have been 10 years old - an amazing age for a French Lop.

Hop free sweet one...

Pepsi

One of our old timers has passed away. He was one of our own bunnies who enjoyed going out with us on the hands on days.  He was loved by the work experience students because, as they opened his cage, he would leg it up to the other end of the shed to say hello to his friends.

He was a very lovable bunny and missed by everyone.

Sleep well little one

Gale

Our beautiful Gale has passed away. She had been hand reared from just a few days old after her mother had died during a thunder storm -  that's how she got her name. She loved running in the garden, pruning the flowers as she went along. She was a big cuddly soppy bunny that everyone fell in love with. She will be very much missed.

Sleep well little one.

JJ

JJ came to us as a rescue.  We were concerned about his condition. Although he rallied initially  he had a relapse and we couldn't turn things around for him.

Sleep well, little one.

Bessie
20.02.07

Our poor little old Dutch Bessie passed away this morning.  She came up for her stroke, then fell on her side, fitted and slipped away. I think it was her way of saying 'thank you for looking after me and goodbye.'  She was a very affectionate little bunny right till the end.  We think she was about 9 years old -a rescue that was too old to        re-home.  She may not have realised it but this was her home.

Sleep well little one.

Topic

His outgoing personality  encouraged  shy, special  needs children to feel comfortable in stroking their first bunny.

Ria

was a big, cuddly, soppy handbag!

Ivy

came to us on loan and never returned to her previous owner because we loved her so much.

Dawn

Our first fawn French Lop.

A wonderful mum, sweet natured and much missed.

Gromit

He was my shadow, my boy.  He followed me like a little dog, coming when I called. He always wanted attention. Died following a stroke.

Skippy

Rejected at birth by his mother and hand reared until, at 13 weeks, mobility problems caused us to have to lose our precious boy.  He filled our lives with happiness due to his loving nature and bravery.

Sleep well...

Arthur

Crossed the bridge June 2006.

Much missed by his family

Rescue Bunny

She had been with us for some months, having been unwell when we took her on.

She passed away peacefully and we are glad she had her last days with us.

July 2006

Thunder

Our gentle giant became ill during the recent heat wave.  Rejected as a youngster and hand fed, he had his own special place in our hearts.

He was a real favourite with the Special Needs Children we meet. They would climb into the cage with him, talk to him and stroke him.

July 2006

Eddy

His passing, due in some part to the recent heat wave, has left us heart broken.

He had major digestive problems from 10 weeks and consequently was never going to be passed on to another home.  He wanted to be loved and stroked.  He behaved like a super - soppy and cuddly baby.

One in a million...

July 2006

Binky, also affectionately known as     Mr Binks. Brother to Pickle and Bunny Friend of Sarah and Stuart. Our little boy will always be remembered for the joy and many cuddles he gave us in the short but happy time that he shared with us.

He will forever hold a place in our hearts.

Sarah and Stuart

Taddington

One of our Hands On Team - a beautiful, friendly bunny that everyone loved.

Passed away as a consequence of the stormy weather December 2006.
